Who is Sarah from The Dance Den?
Sarah Gittins is an author, business coach, mentor and mum. She launched The Dance Den to help other performance arts businesses find balance whilst growing a successful school. She ran her own 350+ school, multi venue for 24 years, selling it in 2023 to concentrate on The Dance Den and helping other dance, drama, music and performing arts school / studio owners to find a well needed life outside the studio!
Sarah’s speciality is studios, and she is a straight-talking mentor from someone who really has the t-shirt in many colours.

Where studio owners come together to support, help and advise each other. This is facilitated peer support, where best practices, knowledge and leadership is brought to the table.

I first heard about then Den through a Performing Arts Educators of Ireland workshop that Sarah came and did over Covid.
I was looking for guidance about the next steps, for mentoring, and some accountability.
Every other business advice I’d had or researched was not tailored to suit the performing arts, and was quite frankly useless. Having worked with Sarah before I knew what she was going to deliver would be of a high quality, and of course relevant to the industry.
The amount of contact for the price was the most appealing feature. Other training I had done was too short lived to be of any value.
Steer has been absolutely brilliant. Not only because of Sarahs mentorship, knowledge, and kick in the pants motivation, but because of all the amazing ideas, stories, and support from the other Steer members.
Steer has not only made me analyse my finances in a far deeper way, it has helped my increase my income, my savings, and my student base.
My goal for Steer was to save €25,000 over the course of the 6 months. And I achieved it, so I’d say it’s a pretty good metric for the increase in money. One of the things I realised doing Steer was all the things I wasn’t, but should be, doing. I have a to do list as long as my arm, but more importantly the motivation to do it, because I can clearly see the advantages of completing the tasks, both in terms of monetary gain, but also productivity gain.
Doing the KPI’s every month was really eye opening. I had never properly kept track of student drop off, enquiries, and how many of those enquiries turn into bookings. It’s been a brilliant tool to implement.
I will be doing the next round of Steer. It is worth every penny. The bang for your buck is beyond anything I’ve experienced elsewhere. And Sarah cares. Yes it a business and a means of income for her, but she wants us to succeed. She knows intimately the struggles we face, and she will do her level best, and beyond, to help us through those.
